Projekt Kuubis

Apartment buildings and diginative schools in Estonia & Finland for Projekt Kuubis.

I’ve maintained close links with the design and other teams involved in my residential construction projects in London. Robert White of White Partners introduced me to Kuubis, a forward-looking team of architects & engineers based in Tallinn.

Having been commissioned to film a series of projects both completed & under construction, I obtained permission from each country’s CAA equivalent to fly my drones in their airspace, & used a combination of DJI’s Inspire 2 & Mavic 2 Pro for the work.

As well as the usual aerial images & video, part of the brief was to create “video stills”: slow & precise elevational orthogonal studies both horizontal and vertical of each facade and material treatments.

These were intended to show each building in the way the architects will have seen them when they were designing, & as the eye might move when studying the architecture, in a way that’s not possible with stills photography. There are examples of video stills in the Architecture showreel / short film that introduced this section.

CAA approved for aerial work, PFCO company number 532, FAA number 4242184
