Having worked with Windfall Films on 2 seasons of the National Geographic series ‘Europe from Above’, I was asked in March 2023 to assist with the filming of proposed drone transition shots for the BBC TV coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Liverpool with the Final on 13th May. A team of drone pilots from across Europe & Australia flew DJI Mavic 3 Cines, with Insta360 ONE RS 1-Inch 360° cameras suspended below, close to notable landmarks from each country – the resulting footage enabled the creation of ‘little planet’ transitions throughout the resulting TV coverage.
