Having had a drone flights over crowds permission suggested to us at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles last September, we returned to the UK & requested a meeting with the Civil Aviation Authority. They couldn’t have been more helpful, & instead of rejecting the idea out of hand, they suggested working towards a sub-250g drone flights over crowds Operational Authorisation under the new UK Specific Operations Risk Assessment framework. Six months later, & after many hours producing an Operations Manual & going through many risk assessment templates with the CAA, we were issued with the first SORA based permission of its kind, permitting sub-250g flights over crowds throughout the UK, & opening up huge possibilities for drone filming & live streaming in stadiums, & at outdoor events & festivals.

Our new OA includes both the DJI Mini series as well as specific FPV drones, & when coupled with our existing extended height permission to 1,000 feet, we’re able to provide drone footage literally unique in the UK.
